“Good morning, this is – oh, it's you.” Sprawled out in Doctor Ecchs' luxurious chair, Nightshade glowered up at the viewscreen on the office wall. “What do you want?”
“And a lovely morning to you, too.” Timebender replied sweetly. “This is just an official call from the Champions. I'm checking up on whether the lovely couple has left on their honeymoon yet.”
“I'm in the big chair, aren't I?” Nightshade answered. “That should pretty much answer the question. You know how the Doc gets when I sit here.”
“And you care about that?” Timebender asked. When Nightshade smirked and shrugged by way of response, she chuckled. “I didn't think so.”
Nightshade chuckled. “Yeah, you got me. Anyway, they got out just fine. Although – and you'll never believe this – they've already had their first fight.”
“Last night, as I understand it. Big one, too.”
Timebender blinked in shock. “That's got to be some kind of record. What did Ecchs do?”
“Hey, now!” Nightshade protested. “What makes you so sure that it was the doc that did something wrong?”
“Pattern recognition.” Timebender replied.
Nightshade considered for a moment, then nodded again. “Okay, yeah, that's fair. And I think you're probably right, since Ada's still a little steamed at him and he's falling all over himself trying to keep her calm. Don't know the details, though – neither of them would talk about it. Hey, Josh!” She yelled out the door. Josh stepped around the corner, and she continued. “You hear why the Docs were fighting?”
“Nope. They didn't say.” Josh answered.
“Oh, well, I'm sure they'll sort it out.” Timebender shrugged. “Nice to have the month off.”
“The month… hey!” Nightshade growled. “I'm right here, you know! I'll have you know I have plans to unleash tons of heists while they're gone.”
“Sure you do.” Timebender said.
“Screw you! You'll see!” Nightshade slammed her hand down on the system's 'off' button. Josh winced, looking at the splinters she had left in the wood, as she turned to him. “We're going to show that prissy little…”
“The archive labs are empty.” Josh said.
There was a long pause. Nightshade swallowed. “I'm sorry, could you repeat that? I couldn't hear you over the sound of my hopes shattering.”
Josh said, “The last of the doc's old stuff got used up during the bachelor party, and everything that wasn't taken apart is still in (Lab). I guess you could try and go in…”
“Hell, no!” Nightshade said quickly. “Besides, the SEA would be all over us. Hmm.” She sat back down, frowning thoughtfully, then looked over. “Seriously. Everything?”
“Absolutely everything.” Josh assured her.
“Well… crap.” Nightshade said. “I guess we can just charge in ourselves…”
“Doc took most of the Ultiminions, and the new batch isn't ready yet. It'll just be you and Phil against the Champions.”
“Argh! Damn it, Ecchs!” Nightshade's fist came down again. There was a crunching sound, and she looked down sheepishly. “Um. Okay, here's our first evil plan. We're going to go steal a mahogany desk.”
“I bow before your knowledge.” Josh said with a smile.
